Welcome to our website. We are
a growing League that can look back on more than half a century of important
contributions to the political decisions in our county. We look ahead to
addressing many pressing issues that face our county, our state and our nation
now and in the future. Much of our work is done in small groups, units, that
meet in your general neighborhood. We are reaching out to different
geographical areas and demographic groups to more fully represent the county's
residents. We have both men and women as members. If you would like to attend
a general meeting or a unit meeting in your area, see our calendar. If there
is not a unit convenient to you, please contact us to consider forming one.
Recently we convened a forum on immigration that brought varied views on the
problems and opportunities of immigration, a
national League study subject. We were pleased that our guests included
local officials, Maryland delegates, and a member of Congress and gave many
citizens an opportunity to express their views on the issue. After months of
study, we members met in small discussion groups to reach consensus on facets
of various immigration issues that are subject to legislation. When
consensuses are put together from the Leagues across the nation, we will have
the positions from which we can lobby Congress for legislation.

programs contact me at suzanwc@verizon.net.
If you want to be a guest at one of the meetings, we will welcome you. For

How
Can You Help Directly With Our Proposed Programs?
In line with our
interest in learning more about our local government, we need observers to
attend regularly scheduled meetings of the AA County Council, Annapolis City
Council, the Board of Education and various other boards and commissions. We
also need to monitor the Capital, the Post, the Sun, and
neighborhood papers to see what issues raise their heads with the general
public. If you would be interested in being part of this all-important observer
corps, please contact Anne Nelson at 410-280-5312 at
nelsonah@comcast.net or Sue Farmer at
ssfarmer27@verizon.net. You can
help us stay informed, even if you can't come to all meetings.
